How to copy paste Vertical values horizontally in Excel and vice versa

Shortcut Excel copy paste values horizontal to vertical and vice versa!!!

Many a times while preparing MIS in Excel we need to copy / /cut paste the values or text from horizontal to vertical or we might also say from rows to column or vice versa.


Here is the best shortcut for the same using paste special function with checking checkbox transpose. In Excel language transpose is used as log game to copy paste values from one dimension to another, but please make sure that copy and paste area doesn't overlap otherwise the function wont work!!

Example: Say suppose we want to convert this table from vertical to horizontal format or we might say from columns to rows

Now, here we need to select the entire table and copy the same ,thereafter need to select/ click on a cell where we want to transpose the values / text  which should not be overlapping to already selected cells.Use value paste function Shortcut: ALT + E + S and the window that opens looks something like this and checkbox values and transpose, Shortcut: V + E (Rem no Alt this time as we are already in Alt function)

Shortcut for Selecting entire row or column

Shortcut (for selecting row) : Shift + Space

Shortcut (for selecting column) : Ctrl + Space

first select the entire table!!! and then press the above short cut....the result would be something like this

Dear all many a times its so happen that we need to copy any particular value or formula to paste it on an excel worksheet only on the visible cells at a time. But i guess we fail to do so because when we paste that value it by default also gets pasted on the hidden cells.

Shortcut: ALT :(Colon)

Well! No more worry for the same. The shortcut appended below will take care of the problem very simply!!!!!!

All we need to do is copy paste the value

Now say suppose we want to paste value A in the table having values greater than or equal to 100. for this we hide the cells having value less than 100

Using filter option we only select the cells having value greater than or equal to 100

we type in 100 in that option and what we get would look like this

Shortcut for Text to Column

Short Cut for Text to Column Wizard will help convert the text to number


Shortcut - ALT + A + E (any Version) there after checkbox delimit (by default the same is already check boxed) and press enter thrice

Many a times when we copy or download data from some data base in Excel we get something like this:

Here the number is stores as text which doesn't allow to use vlookup or search option on the same. To get rid of the same the above mentioned Shortcut can be used after selecting the entire column or row something like this:

The same combination can be used for removing the same.......

Remember: if there is a break in between the table, then we need to select the entire table before using the combination to put filter on the entire table or else the filter will work only uptill the break.

If we only select the header and use the combination the filter will work up till the break; in this case up till row no 7
